World of Warcraft

Welcome on my blog. If we are talking about MMORPG games, most popular and interesting is probably “World of Warcraft”. This popular game, released by Blizzard Entertainment on November 23, 2004 and it’s now almost legendary. World of Warcraft, often referred to as WoW, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by Blizzard Entertainment.
If you remember, first one introduced in awesome fantasy, Warcraft universe, was “Warcraft Orcs & Humans” in 1994. First released expansion, “The Burning Crusade” – released on January 16, 2007 – improved game and beat few selling records. Second expansion, called “Wrath of the Lich King”, beat even “The Burning Crusade” selling records – 2.8 million copies within the first 24 hours of availability!

Well, “World of Warcraft” is real phenomena, with 11 millions of subscribed players is one of the most exciting and popular game in genre of MMORPG games. What is so cool in “World of Warcraft” that this game beat other MMORPG games? Well, i dunno. Maybe good promotion and high quality + easy gameplay are strongest and most important things in WoW. I like WoW, but i must admit that i play in better games. Lord of the Rings Online is far more interesting, or released several months ago - “Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning”. For me, “World of Warcraft” is good and quality game, but nothing more.

What else? Two curiosities – World of Warcraft is currently the world’s largest MMORPG and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG from all MMORPG Games.

Warcraft has inspired artists to satirize and/or acknowledge its mark in popular culture. One example is the Emmy Award winning South Park episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft”.
